Visby – Gotland

Gotland is an island and a Swedish landscape in the Baltic Sea, approximately 90 km from the Swedish mainland coast. The island is the largest. The landscape consists besides the island of Gotland also of Fårö, Karlsöarna, Gotska Sandön and several smaller islands.

Visby is the only town on Gotland and administration center for the Gotland Municipality and Gotland counties in Sweden. The village Visby had 22,593 inhabitants in 2010. The name comes from we, «sacrifice», and city.
